Will Arnold 28.06.1962 – 26.4.2015

Alt TextOn Sunday afternoon, 26th April 2015, Will Arnold lost his battle against cancer. He passed away at the Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon. His family were able to say their goodbyes.

Will leaves behind his wife Ruth and their three children, Joshua, Hannah and Olivia.

After graduating from Cambridge University in 1984, Will enjoyed a long and successful career in the media industry. Will started his career as a journalist and then went on to become a Director of EMAP Media, running their media magazines and data analysis operations. He was Highly Commended by the PPA as first an editor and then as a publisher.

In 1999 he co-founded PR Audit which was sold to United Business Media in 2000. Then in 2004 he set up Apollo Research where he worked until he was diagnosed with his illness in August 2014.

Will was truly one of the good guys, a great businessman, an excellent analyst, a loyal friend and, most importantly, a dedicated husband and father. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. His family and colleagues have had several months to prepare for this day but, nevertheless, it still comes as a shock.

Despite not being actively involved in the day to day running of Apollo Research for several months, Will was able to help us organise the business so that it would continue to thrive without his expert involvement.

Very sad to hear about Will’s death. My condolences and those of all of us here at BM go to his family and colleagues. I’ve known Will since the PR Audit days and recognised him as a true entrepreneur in our business, connected, informed and a great thinker. But more than that an all-round nice guy, always willing to have a chat and share thoughts. He will be very much missed.

We are so very, very sorry to hear of Will’s passing. Will has been a huge part of my tech PR career and helped me personally enormously in making contacts, giving insight and of course sharing great analysis on journalists and analysts. His friendly insight and support helped build the foundations of many a successful campaign.

Bollocks! Knew it was coming and was dreading the phone call. Truly one of the good guys as well as being smart, generous with his time and a bloody good laugh. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with his family.

    Dear Apollo team,

Everyone at Firefly is so sad to hear this news. Will often visited us and patiently trained us (a few times) to use the Apollo research products. His softly spoken voice and wise words have helped us be better PR people. We will miss his thinking and insights as we often used him as a sounding board. His views, opinions and interpretations were always highly valued. Although without Will’s guidance, we know that Apollo Research will continue to thrive, as has been proven over recent months. Our thoughts and with you all, and also with his family Ruth, Josh, Hannah and Olivia.
